The 2012 Atlantic hurricane season was an active and extremely destructive it was the third most active in recorded history. The season began on June 1 and ended on November 30. Tropical Storms Beryl and Helene, and Hurricanes Gordon, Leslie, Nadine, and Rafael. Hurricanes Chris, Kirk, and Michael, and Tropical Storms Florence, Joyce, Oscar, Patty, and Tony, did not impact land. Hurricanes gain power from collecting warm water. Ever heard of hurricane "Sandy"? It was a category 3 hurricane and super destructive. A usual category 3 hurricane would come in 100 miles inland, but "Sandy" came more than 150 miles inland. That is one of the reasons that "Sandy" was considered a super storm. In conclusion 2012 hurricane season was very destructive.
